Set Up:

Nov 1, 2016 - 9 things you didn't know about GarageBand for iPad. The metronome will play a 4-beat count-in and then you can record your 12 bar blues sequence using the G, C and D chord strips 4.Once you have reached the end of the 12 bars, GarageBand will play back the string part from bar 1. Listen to the part you recorded to make sure you’re happy with it and then press. GarageBand is set up to work with song sections (ie. Intro, verse, chorus and so on) which are labelled with letters. When you create a GarageBand song, by default it contains one 8-bar repeating section.

  1. Open GarageBand - Select “Songwriting”
  2. Title your project “12 Bar Blues”
  3. Delete Voice Master Track
  4. Delete Acoustic Guitar Master Track
  5. Drag back your drum beats so they last for 12 bars

Bass Line:

  1. Select the “Muted Bass” Instrument master track
  2. Open “Musical Typing”
  3. Go to “Control Menu” and check off “Count In” - this will give you four beats to get ready with.
  4. Record Roots of the 12 bar blues
    1. Do---|Do---|Do---|Do---|Fa---|Fa---|Do---|Do---|Sol---|Fa---|Do---|Do---||

Edit:

  1. Open Track Editor
  2. Quantize Note Timing - 1/4 Note
  3. Drag notes to correct pitch
  4. Drag notes so they start at the beginning of the bar
  5. Close track Editor

Chords:

  1. Select the piano master track
  2. Copy and paste the muted bass track into the piano part
  3. Add a New Track - Software Instrument
  4. Drag the New Piano Master Track to the top of the list
  5. Open “Musical Typing”
  6. Record the following with four notes per bar:
